If you have yeast in your gut, you may have itching, strange rashes, eczema, or even aches and pains you cannot identify. Typically, food intolerances and/or allergies are to blame. Your body does not like a specific food and the food is not properly digested. Undigested food in your gut then sits, your body becomes dehydrated, and then yeast begins to develop.
You must get rid of yeast in your gut, otherwise it created havoc on the reast of your body. Eating sugar and refined carbohydrates only worsen the problem. Worse, it may perforate the lining of your gut and develop into a leaky gut. This in turns, spreads throughout your body and when left untreated, can created all sorts of autoimmune illnesses, and thyroid problems.
However, this is how you want your gut to be—healthy and well:
So how do you get rid of yeast?
Well, while changing your diet does go a long way, you still need to remove the yeast infection. While you can take anti-yeast medicines, they still will not solve the problem if you don’t stop the cause. These natural methods help stop the yeast, and help you identify which food is causing your infection.
Eat your yogurt or kefir.
Yogurt or keifer whether you make your own or purchase it locally or at a store, adds good bacteria into your gut. If dairy is a problem then try goat milk yogurt or kefir, or even coconut milk kefir. Both are good choices for changing your gut flora and eliminating yeast overgrowth.
Eat fermented foods.
Make your own sauerkraut, or other fermented veggies adds to the good bacteria in your gut. All you need is a little bit of apple cider vinegar and sea salt to make them. Try beverage recipes like kombucha or probiotic lemonade. You can purchase the kombucha starter on Amazon.
Use oregano essential oil.
Oregano essential oil is a known antibiotic, but it also eliminates yeast and stops the cycle in your body. I have also had good results by rubbing it over my abdomen. Or, simply put it on the soles of my feet. I don’t use it more than seven days because it is an antibiotic, but honestly, I have always had good results. You could also put the oil in a pill capsule and take it internally. However, I do not recommend you simply trying to drink the oil. Make some oregano tea from the leaves instead. Oregano oil is known to be the strongest antibiotic both in the natural world and the medicinal.
Use Tea Tree, or Melaleuca essential oil
Melaluca is another super oil that will heal just about any infection. If you have used oregano oil and your symptoms are still lingering, use the tea tree oil for two weeks. Your feet are quite porous and absorb the oil throughout the body, so adding a few drops at night will heal your body. Tea Tree is a known antifungal and also an antibiotic, but quite effective with yeast as well. However, it is not as strong of an antibacterial as oregano.
Take black walnut powder.
Black walnut powder is a known antifungal as well. One of the most internally effective ways to have an immediate impact on yeast in your gut is to add 1/2 tsp of black walnut powder to your shakes, smoothies or other drinks. Black walnut powder not only reduces swelling in tissues, but it also kills off yeast and fungus. You can purchase it at the Bulk Herb Store. I like to use it when I have something flare up in my body. I also use it on my animals as well.
Eat tons of fiber.
You can add fiber to your diet, or our favorite place to add fiber is to our daily smoothies. Add pumpkin, apple, grapes, peaches, or even leafy greens. While most would say not to eat beans (this is a no, no on a Paleo diet), I would say, if it helps you to eliminate yeast, eat them to help your bowels move. Since constipation started the problem, getting your bowels moving and healthy is definitely the solution.
Lower your grain intake.
While I would say that eating no grains is a great way to kill off yeast, particularly wheat, I would say that once again, fiber rules. Going grain-free can make you constipated unless you find that perfect happy place of eating enough fiber. Drop your fiber intake if you feel you have to, but in my experience, there is much to be gained from trying to keep the wheat, even if you have to soak and grind your own grains.
If you can tolerate rice and other gluten-free flours, those are fine also. Finding a balance in grains and bowel movement helps remove the yeast from your gut.
Add a magnesium supplement.
This is kind of along the line of thinking about fiber. As my son’s gasteroenterologist says, you have to have magnesium to help you poop. if you don’t then you are back to square one. Adding magnesium, even through epsom salts or magnesium oil are fine, but I just have not found them to as effective as taking a magnesium supplement.
I really like the CALM magnesium best, because it readily absorbs into your intestinal walls.
Avoid foods that just do not agree with you.
If you have to drink a whole bottle of pepto bismol to eat it, then you probably shouldn’t eat it. Balance the acidity of foods you ingest and check to make sure that you drink plenty of water.
Drink plenty of water.
If you are trying to get rid of yeast in your body, you need to flush out the toxins in your body. Eating plenty of fiber helps you remove the dead yeast, but so does flushing out your tissues with water.
Sugar is a friend to yeast. If you let go of cane sugar and other sugars like maple syrup, agave syrup and any processed corn syrups, then you help the yeast in your gut and body die off. Use a good quality stevia for drinks and other drink and food that requires sweetening. I don’t necessarily recommend raw, unprocessed honey as it has far too many beneficial properties in it, which actually heal your body. However, I would suggest using very little of it until your body has removed the yeast.
Eat foods low in sugar.
Choose berries as your fruit of choice, pumpkin and other green leafy vegetables. Avoid high sugar produce such as sweet potatoes, bananas and even mangoes. While there are many beneficial nutrients in these foods, it may help you to avoid them while you get well.
It is possible to heal your body of yeast, and your child’s! Eliminating foods that cause a problem in a person’s health is a positive step to healing. Getting rid of yeast is a first step.
