I actually learned how to make my own hot chocolate from another mom online, whose blog name alludes me, so my apologies, but my recipe is based on hers.
The secret part of her recipe which made it so delicious is the thickener, which makes my peppermint hot chocolate so creamy.
So start up a pot and build a fire while you sip it, because there are always requests for an extra cup around our house! This will not only heal your body, but warm you as well. There are no crazy chemical-based fillers or impure ingredients, only 100% wholesomeness.
Peppermint Hot Chocolate Recipe
Can be increased or reduced based on the number of cups you need.
4 cups of milk (can be organic cow’s milk, or any milk substitute)
3 TBL of raw cocoa powder
3 TBL of tapioca starch (adjust for the thickness of your liquid)
3 dashes of stevia powder or sugar or honey to taste
10 drops of peppermint essential oil
Add the milk and ingredients to a pan and heat over medium heat, stirring often so that the tapioca dissolves. Heat until steaming but not boiling and serve in cups with those horribly unhealthy (but delicious) mini marshmallows! Makes 4 cups.
