Imagine the absolute shock, amazement, and more!We have eggs, with only one day missing, but my little son was so excited by the second day that he went out to look twice for eggs. Apparently, this upset them just enough so that they did not lay any eggs.
What was the trigger?
Garlic! I was thinking about Lisa’s holistic trinity of chicken keeping at Fresh Eggs Daily, and I realized I had the diatomaceous earth and the apple cider vinegar, but not the garlic. I suspect that they needed the garlic to cleanse out their intestines. Whatever the case is, now I make sure they eat garlic, and they lay eggs;-) It is a small trade-off.
You will notice that on Day 1, one egg shell looks a little strange, but the inside was just fine. I am not sure why, so if anyone knows, let me know!
Day 2 was better, no strange eggs, but then Day 3:
Day 4 was pretty sparse for some reason:
Day 5 was the most interesting. They laid the eggs behind our little coop so that obviously we would not take them, and we had to lift the tractor to get to the eggs.
So, I still have questions about the size of eggs, and yes, I did notice that when I compare our eggs to store bought, the yolks are more of a golden yellow color. I expect our eggs to only increase!
